This abstract work translates the classical notion of aether (latin) the luminous, unchanging substance of the celestial realm.
Aether represents more than mere sky, as it also captures the ancient vision of the upper heavens where purity meets divinity.
Like many of my paintings it too explores boundaries, and in this case, the boundary between the tangible atmosphere we breathe and the ineffable heights above.
The ancient philosophers believed that aether composed the stars and planets too. This painting thus invites contemplation – not necessarily of what is visible, but also of what lies beyond.
